FAQ'S Concerning Elvis Impersonator's Wigs

Due to receiving many telephone calls inquiring about purchasing our Elvis wigs

this page is designated for answers to those Frequently Asked Questions.

Note! All wigs are Unisex.

What is a Custom made wig?

Custom Hand Made Hand Tied Human Hair Wigs take 4 - 6 weeks, may still need some custom designed shaping, cutting.

The wig caps are designed for personalized customized alterations fitting to your head; if needed, after receiving.

The wig is custom made to fit exactly to your head size and shape according to the head size measurements you give.

 You get the exact color. It is best to provide an Elvis photo of the exact style you wish to have made.

All custom made wigs are 100% hand tied with a monofilament top that

allows parting the hair any where and appears as though the hair is growing from the scalp which includes top, sides and back .

A custom made wig can be synthetic hair, human hair blends or 100% human hair.

Also custom made wigs are the most authentic and will last several years.

The cost for this wig is varies. $250.00 - $500.00.

What Is A Monofilament 100% Hand Tied Wig?

 (Not Custom Made)

This is a  wig that has no wefts and a normal size Monofilament Top (3 Inches x 5 Inches).

Your brush or comb or fingers will not get caught in the wefts when styling.

What wig is right for you ?

Depends on the Era you are Impersonating and the investment you wish to make in a wig.

You will want to look at the hair lengths, sides and back.

If you need side burns the  wigs with longer sides (covering the ears) are

better. With your purchase you are given website links for side burns.

Most of our Elvis Impersonators grow their own side burns and use

a temporary hair color to darken them, others have side burns that glue on the skin.

Which is the best wig ?

All of our wigs are out-standing.

Mainly it depends on your budget and desired investment.

Most Elvis Impersonators share their talent on week-ends and have a full time job.

Many are booked far in advance.

In many cases cost is a factor however the better the wig the more it will cost and the better the authenticity.

As in all cases, the more costly and comfortable a wig is; as you would expect, is the better quality.

This is being consistent with enhanced hair quality and cap design.

Prevalent wig cap designs such as monofilament top, hand tied and hand made;

make a wig more valued and less costume in appearance. 

We do not carry second-rate; giving the impression of being

costume Elvis Wigs resembling five and dime store quality.

Wig slipping or moving while performing ?

If you are apprehensive about the wig slipping while you are doing a show you can

purchase two sided invisible tape, the link for viewing tape and prices are on the below link.

Mens Tape for Wigs and Toupees

Typically, there should not be a problem with the wig slipping unless it is too large or too small.

If the wig is too small it will not look good on the head.

For each wig offered there are self adjusting sizing tabs in the back at the nape.

Styro Foam Heads

If you would like a Stryo-foam head to store the wig on the cost is $13.00

+ $7.00 shipping when purchased separately. Inclusive with a wig purchase there is not an additional shipping fee.

Cleansing

Shampooing the wig with the proper products is important for longevity, shine and condition.

Shampooing, cleansing and cutting instructions are included with purchase.

  Custom Designed Maintenance Special Deal  link has the products that are needed.

The special deal contains shampoo, conditioner, shiner glossifier or gel and hair spray.

You may want the hair spray in order for the style to stay in place as

you move energetically around the stage or floor. Just a small amount of hair spray is needed.

You will know when to shampoo your wig when it does not style, brush or comb as it once did and becomes dull or lifeless.

 If you are around a lot of smoke, or perspire you will want to shampoo more frequently.  

How long will the wig last?

The wig should last 12 - 24 months or longer depending on frequency of use and cleansing.

It will be time to replace your wig when the cap is no longer fitting properly,

the shine disappears, it does not style as well and after cleansing the hair does not feel and style as it once did.

A wig will last much longer when you use special wig maintenance products and not regular over the counter hair products.     ,

Cutting your wig

You will want to be sure to choose an experienced hair stylist to custom design cut

your wig into the desired Elvis style you are impersonating.

If you do not have a regular hair stylist......with expertise of wig cutting...

THEN

Before you make an appointment for the custom designed cut;

go into the salon and talk personally as in a consultation to the stylist who

will be doing the cut inquiring if he/she can achieve the cut accordingly to the Elvis photo you show them.

Ask if they can/will dry cut it with a razor.

You must be willing to wear the wig while it is being cut.

You can expect to as much as $30.00 to $50.00 for the cut depending on the area in which you live.

I cannot pre-cut the wig since you wouldn't be wearing the wig.
